Yachting on The Han River

If I am asked what makes Seoul so attractive, my answer would be “the Han River”. This vast river has been the center of Seoulites’ life especially when it comes to leisure. There are 12 Hangang Parks along the river, people do water-skiing, fishing, and many other water sports on the river, and a lot of festivals are held in the Hangang Parks all year around. Recently, I’ve found one more way to enjoy this lovely river, which is Yachting! Imagine how nice it would be to overlook the city on a yacht. It was truly amazing!

As far as I know Seoul Marina Club & Yacht is the only provider of yacht rides on the Han River. You will have to book rides on their website. You have options of 27 ft and 31 ft cruiser yachts. The price per person per hour for both yachts is the same, 15,000 KRW (about 13.5 USD). The minimum required number of passengers is 4.

Location

The two nearest subway stations to Seoul Marina are National Assembly station (Line 9) and Dangsan station (Line 2 and Line 9). From the stations it takes 15 – 20 minutes on foot to the Seoul Marina. If you get off at Dangsan station, go to the exit 4 and walk through a bridge.

I liked the view from the bridge.

There is an elevator at the end of the bridge. Use the elevator to get to the ground. Then you will see the below sign. Please go right.

When you see this sign, please go right again.

It took 15 minutes for me to get here from the station.

The departure place is this grey annex. You need to be there at least 10 minutes before the departure time.

After filling in the document and paying for the ride, you are guided to the yacht and then the journey starts. 🙂

I think the best time to enjoy yachting in summer is during the sunset.

It was Friday, so there was a festival going on in Yeouido Hangang Park.

I was not really planning to take photos of me on the yacht, but the driver strongly insisted that we all must take photos of ourselves saying it would be really nice pictures and yes he was quite right about it. For the moment, I felt like the yacht was mine and I was sailing across the ocean. 🙂

After an hour of sailing you are back to the main building of Seoul Marina.

There is a bar and restaurant in the main building so I had a pizza and a beer in the terrace with the views of loads of boats and yachts docked in the marina. I think it would be also nice to come here just for a beer. Especially in Summer. 😉

But you don’t need to travel outside of Seoul to get your ski on. In fact, there are numerous businesses located right on the city’s Han River that cater to water skiing enthusiasts.
