Seoul International Fireworks Festival

Seoul International Fireworks Festival is the most explosive event in Seoul having more than one million visitors to turn out. This festival has been held annually in early October at Yeouido Han River Park since 2000. Actual fireworks show kicks off at 7 p.m. and three or four international teams are participated in the event. Every show is conveyed a 15 minute fireworks by each teams in the span of two hours including opening ceremony and a pause with music.

It is chilly out on the autumn evening. It would be helpful to wear warm clothes and to bring a blanket. You would find there is not enough space to sit on among the crowds over the ground with so many tents (even it is not allowed!). You can go very early to get a good spot.  But I recommend you to get there just in time. When the show starts, most tents are going to be taken down to watch the fireworks. Then, you can find for an empty place between the tents. You can share the perfect space someone saved early by their tent.

Finally, all you need is to choose where to go to take a seat for enjoying the beautiful scene!

1.You can enjoy its display over the head along the river from Yeouinaru station until 63 Building with the full effect of the music.
2.If you want to avoid the crowds, smells and noise then Ichon Han River Park, the other side of the river, is a good choice for you in terms of relatively quiet and less crowded.
3.Other locations having good view either but a little bit farther: Nodeul Island, Noryangjin Sayukshin Park and Seonyudo Park.
4.Hangang Bridge Observatory and other neighboring bridges (from Dongjak Bridge to Yanghwa Bridge).
5.One of the best way to enjoy the display of fireworks is taking the Han River Cruise.

Traffic across Yeouido Yeouidong-ro will be restricted, so using public transportation is recommended. Although Yeouinaru station is the closest station to the festival site, trains will pass through Yeouinaru station without stopping or the station will be closed temporarily if it is too crowed. You’d better go the other neighboring stations such as Daebang station (Line 1), Yeouido station (Line 5 or 9) and Saetgang station (Line 9). Those stations are 10-30 minutes’ walk from the fireworks site in Han River Park.
