Watching Baseball Games in Seoul

I think it is worth spending your Saturday to go and watch baseball game with chilled beer. Tickets are kind of cheap, around 10,000 won. You will join the whole new cheering culture of Korean baseball with cheerleaders. Every player has their own song and fans sing his song to boost the player. I hope you not to miss an opportunity to feel the atmosphere of amazing Korean cheering.

There are three baseball parks in Seoul. You can go any baseball park to enjoy a baseball game.

Jamsil Baseball Stadium – First and the biggest baseball stadium, which is the home of the Doosan Bears and LG Twins. Both teams are so popular that infield seats are usually sold out. (But mostly, outfield seats are available)

Address: 25 Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul
Subway – Sports Complex Station (Line 2 or 9, Exit 5 &6).

Gocheok Sky Dome – The latest stadium located in Gocheok-dong. There is no more cancellation of baseball game in Gocheok Sky Dome in case of rain. The new home of the Nexen Heroes. It holds a special club party once a month after the baseball game.

Address: 914, Mok 1(il)-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul
Subway – Guil Station (Line 1, Exit 2)

Mokdong Baseball Stadium – The smallest stadium among three, but it means you would see baseball game closely. (Now it has closed. Only opens for some amateur leagues.)

Address: 939, Anyangcheon-ro, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul
Subway – Omokgyo Station (Line 5, Exit 3)

Hi. I’m traveling to Seoul in August and I’m interested in visiting either the Jamsil stadium or Gocheok Skydome. I’m sorry that I don’t know any Korean, so can you tell me which one is easier for an American to visit? Are signs in English at both stadiums?

Watching baseball game in a hot summer day in August, my answer is definitely Gocheok Skydome! You can enjoy the baseball game in air-conditioned comfort. Both stadiums have enough signs in English, and Gocheok Skydome has bigger electronic board. But if you want to join the more passionate cheering for a favorite team, Jamsil stadium is better choice for you. Either would be fun. 🙂
