About Us

Welcome!

We are Ji-Yon and Sin-Young, friends from high school and Seoul residents.

After living abroad for some time, we both are now based in Seoul. We teamed up to form Seoul Insiders’ Guide to share information on our beloved hometown, Seoul.

We love to explore new places. After traveling through dozens of countries, we realized that Seoul has a lot to offer from historic sights, dramatic mountain scenery, museums to vibrant city culture and nightlife.

The main purpose of Seoul Insiders’ Guide is to offer in-depth travel information on Seoul. We will release posts about how to explore this urban city.

We hope this blog will be helpful to you to make great memories in Seoul!

We love hearing from you guys. You can reach us at seoulinsidersguide@gmail.com.

 Ji-Yon Ko

I was brought up in Seoul and lived in Seoul until I graduated from the university. Then, I moved to Sweden for the master’s degree in media and communication. Afterwards, I moved to Austria for the job.

After 5 years in Europe, I came back to Seoul and started a new career as a freelance writer and translator. My first book, Life in Sweden, was published in 2014 and I co-translated six Lonely Planet guide books from English into Korean.

I love sunny autumn days, books, the sound of rain, coffee, art exhibitions, interior design, classical music and travelling.

I grew up and live in Seoul. I majored Economics and International Development. I worked in financial field for a few years and then changed career into a researcher of development project.

I like to visit urban events, try new cafés and restaurants and I love experiencing new places. I enjoy cooking and sharing meals with friends at home.

I had an internship for 3 months in India. I studied in Germany as an exchange student for 6 months. Up to now, I’ve traveled twenty-seven countries and visited ninety-one cities(Austria, Cambodia, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, The Czech Republic, Turkey, USA, Vietnam, Zambia).
